Gaining Support

Getting the support that you need is crucial. Many times, friends and family can sabotage you without being conscious of what they're doing. It will be hard to be alone in this. They do not need to follow your habits, but they need to be told up front that you're making a lifestyle change. You are not on a diet. By doing this, they can help you without hindering you.

Staying the Course

Get emotionally involved in changing your lifestyle. It is a good way to get started and to stay motivated. View changing your lifestyle as something easy and positive so that there are no negative connotations linked to the process. Take everything one step at a time, one day at a time. You can actually use positive affirmations to feed your subconscious mind with positive statements about what you want to attain. By doing this, you can have the right mindset to stay on track.

Setting Goals

Today, my pastor spoke on goals. If you have a goal, there are three definite things you need in order to attain the goal. You need a plan, discipline in following the plan, and a reliance on the Lord to see you through. Write down your goal. Write down the steps you need to take in order to attain that goal. You will not get very far if you do not have discipline and the Lord to keep you on track.

Constructive Confrontation

Last Sabbath, my pastor gave a sermon on christian confrontation and how the bible addresses this issue. Then, this Sabbath, our Sabbath School lesson pertained to constructive confrontation and how Church Community can break down because individuals avoid confrontation because it is the easy way out. The bible clearly states in Matthew 18:15 that the burden of initiative lies with you whether you are the victim, or the one who caused the harm. Let me synthesize, merge, and summarize the two lectures that I attended about confrontation. 1. Pray about it, and ask God to guide you through the process. 2. Open with a positive statement. 3. Bring up the issue delicately. 4. Give an example. 5. Tell how it makes you feel. 6. Describe a way that you contribute to the problem, or where your weakness is. This step is of the utmost importance because in a conflict, it is never all one sided. 7. Let the other person talk and tell their views 8. Come up with a plan on how to handle the situation next time, or this will all have been in vein. Follow this model for confrontation and you can never belittle the other person, or offend them. Print out the steps, bring them with you, and follow them if you need to. Using this model will strengthen your relationship. I promise!

Starting A Journey

I am Leslie Chandler. This is the first time I have ever done a blog. I'll tell you a little about me to start out. I am an out of work Special Education Teacher. I am married with two children. My husband's name is Shamel. My kids are seven and five: girl and boy. I just turned thirty-four Thursday. Happy birthday to me, yea! I have just recently, this past summer, relocated to the Austin, TX area because my husband got a new job. That's enough about me. Now, let me tell you why I started this blog and the content I intend to post. I started this blog because I have a vision of the whole healthy you. My philosophy is also based on the Japanese philosophy of kaizen, which means continuous improvement. Also, I take after the secret somewhat because of constantly trying to focus on the positive. I will be including posts pertaining to spiritual health, medical health, mental health, physical health, financial health, nutritional health, and relationship health.
